RIP Albert Hofmann - One Strange But Fun Bike Trip.

Dr. Albert Hofmann the inventor of LSD, who just celebrated his 102 birthday in January is dead. Thank you Dr. Hofmann for your scientific achievements. Imagine people, this man created pretty much the whole 60's movement (MUSIC! ART! FASHION!).

Here's a synopsis of Bicycle Day his first trip.

On April 19, the good old doctor intentionally ingested 250mg  of LSD, which he guessed would be a enough for a starting dose.  Within minutes he was struggling to speak intelligibly and asked his laboratory assistant to help him to his bike so he could ride home. It was wartime people, not everyone had a car, not even a doctor. So on the bicycle ride home he wrote in his journal, "everything in his field of vision wavered and was distorted, as if seen in a curved mirror."  Once he reached his home he decided to talk to a friend who happened to be a doctor who gave him a physical and everything checked out okay. He felt it would be in his best interest to drink some milk and lay in bed (thinking the milk would calm down the LSD! ha). While laying in bed Hofmann mentions seeing "fantastic images" surging past him alternating and opening and closing themselves into circles and spirals and finally exploding into colored fountains and then rearranging themselves in a constant flux.  Sounds heard, such as an automobile passing by, was transformed into optical perceptions.  Finally the doctor slept through his first trip to wake up the next morning with a sensation of well being and a renewed life.  He later wrote in his journal that his breakfast tasted "unusually delicious" this morning!

LA LAKERS - I smell a sweep, only one game away!

The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Denver Nuggets  102-84 in game three, the first game in Colorado.  As this series continues the Lakers have demolished the Nuggets to ultimate destruction and personal failure. They had no offense and their defense couldn't stop a community college team! The Lakers have the chance to close out this series on Monday in game 4 in Denver.

My favorite part of the series so far was in game two at home at the magnificent Staples Center every time Carmelo Anthony shot free throws, in typical LA fashion they started a game long chant D.U.I.!  D.U.I!

Man, I love LA!

Happy 420 to all and to all a good high!

Today, as I'm sure everyone knows is April 20th the official pot smokers holiday.  I would like to wish all you stoners out there a safe and happy day. As I reminisce thinking of all my pot smoking days in the past I feel the greatest gift that marijuana has brought to my life was the times I got to kick it with my friends and just enjoy each others company. Here's a thought for your brain, the most called in sick-day of the year is the day after the Superbowl! Why is this, maybe because everyone is out drinking the night before and got to f*cked up to wake there ass up to get to work the next morning. But I promise this to you my friends, this will not happen for those who participate in this cultural phenomenon know as 420. So grab a sack of your favorite flower, call up a couple of buddies, and let the good times burn.  Enjoy, be safe, drink water, and remember folks boycott cocaine!

TACO WARZ - Could it be, no more taco trucks in L.A.?

There's a new law going into effect in Los Angeles County. This new law requires taco trucks to move every hour from location to location never allowed to come to the same area in the same day.  How exciting? Let the scavenger hunt begin for your favorite street taco .  This was put together by District 1 County Supervisor Gloria Molina, of the L.A. Board of Supervisors.
Under this witches new law, hard working taco trucks will have to change location every hour, or face a misdemeanor charge carrying a $1000 fine and/or jail time. F*cking JAIL people!

To learn more about this tragic event that is effecting thousands of taco truck workers lives please check out SaveOurTacoTrucks.org to sign the petition.

The Waffle - Not just a breakfast joint!

A block away from Vine St. on Sunset Blvd. underneath the House of Blues building lays THE WAFFLE.  First off my loadies this place has great throw back cafe feel to it, with new tastes to classy comfort food. Or it could also be because of there bar hopping friendly hours. Nothing cures a hangover like a cornmeal-jalapeno waffle with a piece of fried chicken with gravy on the side, nothing expect maybe a Bloody Mary and half a xani-bar (Remember kids pills and alcohol equals bad news!) but that's another topic. I sure made a detour quick this week in my blog, What can I say it's the weekend.
Honestly though, if you need a place to grab a good meal, reasonably priced, you gotta check out The Waffle.  Here's a little birdie dropping some insiders guide to the menu. Next time your in there you gotta check out this new off menu secret called "The Double Wide". It's a  bacon infused waffle fried chicken sandwich.  Not something you would want to eat every day, but just the right fix for any hangover.
Inside there already amazing APPLEWOOD-SMOKE BACON WAFFLE you'll find a piece of fried chicken so moist and tender, with even more applewood-smoked bacon, sliced red onions, lettuce, tomatoes, melted Tillamook cheese, and just to bump the pounds on the scale a little more, a side of white country gravy.  THANK YOU WAFFLE, THANK YOU!

KETCHUP - Guess who I saw for a 100th time in Hollywood last week?

DAVID Fffing SPADE! I swear I see this guy everywhere. From actually running into him at the Grove not once but twice and now I see this guy at Ketchup. At least this time it seemed like he was having a nice quiet dinner with his brother. Still shows everyone how small Hollywood really is. This wasn't my first time at Ketchup, last time I was there I saw Tom Arnold and C+ celebrity Dr. Ray aka Dr. 90210.

Enough celebrity bullsh*t let's get down to the food. For appetizers we had and order of their famous fries and onion rings. Mmm sounds great for anyones diet plan. Dinner I had mini sliders and my beautiful girlfriend who is my only reader had there BBQ chicken salad. In the end I'm not that impressed.  Sorry Dolce Group but I think I'm done with your frat pack trendy restaurants.  Service moderate. Food moderate.
